Did You Know. Methamphetamine use and manufacture can seriously affect people and animals for many years to come if living in a home where it was made or even used. Investigations have found meth contamination in homes over 3 years after there was known use or manufacture. Smoking and manufacture destroy property and has been linked to sickness.

People who live in houses where meth was smoked or produced, may have enough in their systems to establish a positive result even from a simple hair test for drugs. Furnishings and other possessions may become contaminated to the point of needing to be discarded to protect your health.

Here at Assess and Construct we now offer an inspection which can detect if these drugs have been used within your home or Car. The increase of drug use and even manufacture of drugs in homes, make it necessary for this simple test which can confirm as you may have suspected is or not contaminated from meth use.

Many people use their cars for taking drugs, I hear about people making mini meth labs in the back of their cars/vans ‘hidden drug dens’. This is worrying due to the health implications of Toxins which effect people and their pets. These toxins are held within the cars ventilation system, seats and covers, even the interior structure of the car.

Consider having your second-hand car tested for Meth before you buy it – the cost of replacing all contaminated materials in a car could leave you with a bill of around $4000.

As we research the problem in greater depth we keep hearing so many stories of sickness in families due to toxic chemicals from Ex Meth Labs from around the world.

When you purchase a home used for meth production or other drugs, people have experienced short-term health problems ranging from migraines and respiratory difficulties to skin irritation and burns.

With further research, we found ‘Long-term problems are less well known, but the results from a 2009 study in Taxological Sciences suggest that methamphetamine chemicals may cause cancer in humans.  And because children have small, developing bodies and a tendency to play on the ground and put things in their mouths, they are especially susceptible to adverse health effects from meth toxins.’

Typical Symptoms of Meth exposure

. Respiratory

. Headaches

. Rashes

. Fatigue

. Loss of Appetite

What Do Real Estate Agents Need to Know About Meth Labs?

Real Estate Sales Agents and Rental Agents need to consider the importance of the dangers and financial impacts of meth labs in properties. Across Australia, especially regional areas, there has been a significant increase in the production and use of methamphetamine. Meth is a destroying people’s lives and has caused a significant social and financial problem in Australia. In a report published by the ‘National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre the use of methamphetamine has increased by 52 per cent in the past 10 years’

Generally the renter or home buyers of an established property, often miss the signs of a meth lab..

. You should always ask the history of any established property before being purchased or rented. It would be unfortunate if you were to purchase a property and later found out that drug use in the home was public knowledge and you weren’t aware. This could be an issue when you are unable to sell the property.

. Ask questions and investigate the home before you buy or rent it. Do your research, ask the neighbors who may know more about whether the previous occupants may have been meth/drug users.

FAQ:

How do I get my house and car tested for meth levels, and how do I know if the tester is legitimate or just a fraud?

We can do a Multiple Drug Detection Test which is an initial test to see if drugs are present. We allow the client to visually view the results to prove the test is legitimate.   If you require further information on the levels of the drug’s present a secondary test will be carried out and sent to an authorised laboratory who then sends us a written report which we forward to you.

What do we do if Meth is found in my home at significant levels?

You now have the knowledge and evidence to show the results, many people will never know about their homes toxicity levels. I would check your home insurance policy to see if you are covered in any way then seek a Professional Meth Clean-up contractor.
